As part of our PlumbCare Program, this Park Orchards customer received their annual reminder to book a Yearly Drain Clean. Regular maintenance like this helps identify developing issues before they turn into blocked drains or emergency plumbing callouts. As a bonus, the customer also received their PlumbCare member discount.
The Work Completed
Our plumber carried out a full Yearly Drain Clean, which included:
- High-pressure water jet cleaning of the property’s sewer drain.
- A CCTV drain camera inspection after jetting to confirm the line was clear and flowing correctly.
- A full inspection of the sewer line to identify any developing issues.
What We Found
During the CCTV inspection, we found minor tree root intrusion at the jump-up near the property boundary. While the roots hadn’t yet caused a blockage, they had begun entering the drain and would have continued growing if left untreated.
Using our high-pressure water jetter, we successfully removed the roots and restored the pipe to full flow.
Why Preventative Maintenance Matters
Tree roots are one of the most common causes of blocked drains throughout Park Orchards. Catching them early through routine maintenance is often far more cost-effective than waiting until the drain blocks completely.
A yearly drain clean and CCTV inspection allows us to identify small problems before they become expensive repairs or inconvenient plumbing emergencies.
What Happens If Roots Keep Coming Back?
While high-pressure jetting removes the roots and restores flow, it doesn’t stop new roots from entering a damaged pipe. If a drain becomes cracked or significantly compromised, we typically recommend repairing or replacing the affected section to provide a long-term solution and prevent ongoing blockages.
If you’re experiencing recurring blocked drains, or you’d like to prevent them from happening in the first place, our preventative drain maintenance service can help keep your sewer system flowing freely all year round.
