A customer called us after noticing a significant change in the colour of the water coming from the taps at her Ringwood home. We were able to attend the same day to investigate and provide a quote.

It didn’t take long to identify the problem. The old galvanised pipework under the house was showing clear signs of deterioration and was affecting the water coming through the taps and the home required a water renewal.

Over time, older galvanised pipes can corrode internally, which can affect the colour and appearance of the water coming through your fixtures. In this case, the difference was particularly noticeable.

Before and after

The before photo shows the water running through the old pipework – heavily discoloured and brown.

We renewed the old cold water pipework under the house, replacing the deteriorating galvanised supply with new 20mm water pipe and reconnecting the existing cold water fixture outlets.

The after photo shows the same tap running clear water.

It’s a pretty remarkable difference.

Is your home showing signs of old pipework?

Older homes can have ageing galvanised water pipes that deteriorate over time. If you’ve noticed your water changing colour, particularly if it looks rusty, brown or discoloured after sitting unused, it’s worth having the pipework checked.

H2Pro completes water renewals across Ringwood and Melbourne’s Eastern Suburbs, helping homeowners replace old and deteriorating water pipework with modern plumbing systems.
